If you attended the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour this year, you might have noticed the blue and orange Sparesbox hex nut on the Dipper. Like true car lovers, the Sparesbox team got right into the action of Bathurst 12 Hour, bringing viewers live updates & behind the scenes across all 3 days.

One of Australia’s most famous endurance races, the Bathurst 12 hour is a race dedicated to showcasing the best of the world’s GT3, GT4 and specialised production cars on the beautiful Mt Panorama track in Bathurst, NSW.

This year, Sparesbox partnered with Mann Filter and BMC Filters, two brands which featured heavily in the 2020 Bathurst 12 Hour. Mann Filter, best known for their high tech FreciousPlus cabin air filters, sponsored this year’s Triple Eight car with racing legends Jamie Whincup, Maximilian Götz and Shane van Gisbergen at the wheel. BMC Filters also played a major role this year, with their premium performance air filters being used in a number of the cars.

Sparesbox resident presenter/beer aficionado Sam also managed to snag interviews with the Triple 8 team at the Mann Filter garage. And If you want to know what Jamie Whincup loves about Bathurst 12 Hour, or what the longest part of race prep is for Maximilian Götz, make sure to check out the video recap of the race!

Of course, Bathurst 12 Hour wasn’t all about the cars – over the weekend, Sparesbox also saw some rather interesting setups from race attendees. Some people took their campsites seriously and came fully prepared for the hot weather (each day saw a sweltering high of 41?) while some did not… fortunately, the nights cooled down to a tolerable mid-20s.

Other highlights included Benny from Benny’s Custom Works and his Kei truck, Bruce’s Red Dog (a restored 1939 Chev), the Sparesbox Golf R and free merch from Sparesbox, Mann Filter and BMC for some lucky attendees.

So how did the race end?

After a nail-biting 12 hours, the race finished with a bit of rain and the #888 winning 3rd place, one-upping their 2019 result. First place went to #7 Bentley while #60 McLaren swooped in at second after a post-race 30 second penalty on the #999 GruppeM Mercedes-AMG for failing to turn off the engine during an unscheduled stop. Safe to say, it was quite the eventful day!
