It was a super-strong result for a Shannons Auction since company founder Robert Shannon staged his first Classic Vehicle Auction more than 40 years ago in 1971, with great participation and bidding activity by enthusiasts.

Black and white Victorian and New South Wales number plates produced the other standout results, together contributing nearly $9 million to the auction’s bottom line and producing record prices, especially for four-digit plates, with some bridging the gap to the prices achieved by some four digit plates.

The Victorian three-digit plate ‘244’ produced the top result of $396,000, while ‘VIC-‘2.010’ (the Chinese Year of the Tiger) sold for an outstanding $301,000 and another ‘lucky’ plate – ‘NSW- 8868’ – made $255,088’.
