Chrysler owners are a special bunch. Can you think of another big automotive brand whose enthusiasts essentially hold their unofficial ‘nationals’ in the same place, at the same time, every year?

The success of the annual Chryslers on the Murray is not only testament to the proficiency of the organisers at the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Club, but the fervent passion Chrysler owners have for their beloved Mopars.

Chrysler, arguably the smallest of Detroit’s ‘Big Three’, still encompasses products by Dodge and Jeep, as well as genuine parts supplier Mopar. Reaching back through history, bygone brands such as Plymouth, DeSoto and even Rambler/AMC all fell under the Chrysler parent group at some stage.

All are welcome at Chryslers on the Murray, with no particular bent for standard or modified, American or Australian, six or V8; an incredibly diverse range of vehicles are eligible to enter considering they all reside under a single brand name.

This year’s ‘Spotlight’ falls on the golden age of US Muscle, 1962 to 1974. Big cubes, big horsepower and wild colours; it was not a time for shrinking violets.

Over 800 entrants are expected to attend, taking in three days of cruising, two days of show & shine and a swap meet, just in case you can’t find that pesky missing piece on eBay.

Friday’s time trials at Wodonga TAFE's Logic Campus should sort the torsion bars from the coil springs, while on Friday night, organisers are expecting to unveil several fresh restorations. Changing pace for Saturday, Matt Dean, Californian Dodge mechanic and go-to man for dealer-fitted performance modifications will conduct a seminar on his 30-year career.

The event will be held over three days at Gateway Lakes, Wodonga. It’s family friendly, with plenty for the kids to do and of course, non-Chrysler driver spectators are welcome.

Being the largest ongoing Chrysler show in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s well worth a look.
