An opportunity to visit the unique Eynesbury Homestead.
Eynesbury was named after a town in the United Kingdom where
Simon Staughton was born (1797). Mr Staughton moved with his family to
Australia in 1841 and settled on 101,000 acres which was subsequently
subdivided in 1852. The township of Melton was created from
the 30,600 acre subdivision. Eynesbury Homestead has been restored and
is listed as a Place of State Significance by the Heritage Council Victoria.
MEET: United Service centre, Todd Road Port Melbourne. (When entering the Westgate Freeway follow the signs to the Todd Road Service centre).
DEPART: 11:15am
ROUTE: Take the Princes Freeway to Werribee,
turn right onto Market Road then left onto Cottrell/Ballan
Road.
On reaching the T intersection at the end of Ballan Road, turn right
at the roundabout onto Geelong
Bacchus Marsh Road. Turn right at
Nerowie Road then right at Eynesbury Road.
