Since initially creating this page our Skyliner has done a lot of k's.  Over the Queen's Birthday weekend a couple of months ago, we drove this car and my parents 35 Ford up to Caboolture in Queensland to the Early Ford V8 club's biannual meet and show.

It was 3 days to get there, when it really should have been a 4 day trip......next time we'll know better.  The Newell Highway was a shocker with the poor old 35 bippity bopping all over the place while constantly being overtaken by trucks.  The Skyliner is a much better ride and even though we can't get the overdrive to work, travelling at the speed limit or just below, I was acheiving 17.5 mpg.

The trip was a real journey, an epic road trip that I was able to share with my parents and my own family, my 2 young girls enjoying the get away from school and a trip to all the theme parks as well.

The show was great, some awesome cars on display and being judged.....how often do you see 2 original Lincoln Zephyr's in one spot!!??  One a 4 door, the other a 5 window coupe.

The show is supposed to be for all Ford cars that came out with a sidevalve V8, incorporating the build years of 1932 to 1954......which is the loophole that lets in the American 54, which ran the new OHV V8.  There were only 2 other cars there with the wrong engine, a 54 Victoria Coupe and a gorgeous black 54 Mercury Coupe.....yum, yum :P

The meet also included organised runs all around the Caboolture, Briby Island and Glasshouse Mountains area......such a beautiful part of the country.  The Skyliner even got some runs at freeway speeds up and down to the Gold Coast theme parks, safe to say we may have been the coolest cruisers heading to the parks :)

Our trip back home was another 3 day epic but this time we headed along the coast to Sydney then across to Wagga and home to Sunraysia.  What a trip, have a few oil leaks to fix now......
