History
Car had been almost destroyed by previous owners changes, i am working on her everyday to restore her back to Porcshe Factory only parts and specification.
This car is special as it is the (Last) European 1977 930 made for the world markets, this car was the last before engine size changed , And heavier parts put in as was the case from the years 1978 and on.
this car weighs in at 1040kg which validates its true supercar standing, at the time when supercars like Lamborghini and Ferrari were doing 0-100 times of 8 or 9 seconds this car in factory trim is doing it in an easy 5.2 seconds.
which is a staggering speed and acceleration even today,
But one of the mods a previous owner put in was a RUF 5 speed Gearbox , which i will not change, reason being is that the factory 4 speed it originally came with is unusable if you wish to drive it on a daily basis,( which i do) so the Ruf is staying for now.
But having the low first gearing adds 50hp at the rear wheels in acceleration
Car is an original Australiian RHD Import so there has been no conversion needed this car is one of 22 cars made for Australia, This car is the Last 1977 imported to Australia and the Last 930 1977 European Spec made in the world
Factory this comes with over 260hp, this is increased at the wheels due to the 5 speed gearbox, + 50hp acceleration at wheels
Ignition has been changed to a newer MSD system for reliability +20hp
An intercooler has been added to keep charging temperatures lower , especially useful in Australian summer heat, +30hp
As you see he Porsche 930 still has a much higher power to weight even after 37 years than the Fastest Australian Muscle cars.
IT has original KKK Turbo with 6;5 compression (was changed1978 onwards
Because of low compression this year had it is capable of boosting much higher, and this car was the only year out of 25 years of Turbocharging in Porches that had the famous 1.5 Bar Boost Guage.
Absolutely No rust through out so far (fingers crossed,)
I am slowly and methodocialally going through the whole car and taking off every piece one by one and checking for wear,
So far extremely lucky it has had a papmered life, no parts have been needed to change due to wear and tear,
Parts are then reinstalled and retorqued, cleaned and oiled.
Wiring has been biggest problem , i have been removing all previous owners wiring, ie; stereo, mobile phone micâs etc,
Factory wiring is now in place with the exception of where ive needed to replace wiring that has turned brittle over 37 years,
I have kept wiring that i have replaced and bagged and labelled it.
