History
The VW Country Buggy was designed and built in Clayton Victoria at VW's assembly plant. The Country Buggy was initially designed to win an Australian Army contract for a general purpose vehicle. The Army however said very nice but we require 4WD. So VW were stuck with 800 odd Country Buggies and proceeded to sell them to farmers as general purpose run about for rural properties.
The Country Buggy is basically a VW Beetle Floor Pan with Kombi running gear and a steel body of flat panel steel pressed in Clayton.
