History
Progress continues with the 2" drop spindles and the dual system with the straight through Heartthrob 24" Glasspacks. Imported the Heartthrobs from the States and they are worth every cent, Great note. Made it to the Warwick Jazz and Jumpers Festival with the Pontiac Club. Top weekend. Parked her in the main street with the other clubs and got some good feedback. Seems the stock red velvet interior is a favorite.
She’s been on the road now since early 2012 and true to my word she’s a daily driver. Lovely car to drive and we’ve taken her on a few trips with the Pontiac Club. I have a vision of what she will look like one day and slowly working towards it. Can’t believe how lucky I was with an online import purchase. (Thanks Brooks Biddle in Bothell, WA)
Bought this baby online out of Seatle in July 2011, trucked down to LA and went USLAX to AUBNE late September, the long wait ended early November. Came home and there she was parked out the front. Wanted something different, not a muscle car and comfortable enough for a daily driver. Going through Qld L01 at the moment.
Modifications
With the compliance and rego out of the way I am developing a better understanding of the USA geographically as I search all over for parts. So far we have the 9" Cragars for the rear, the drop spindles, drilled and slotted rotors and a full bushing kit for the front. The central locking is up and running and the A/C parts will arrive soon. The only downside has been an enforced rewind of the starter motor.
The new KYB shocks are on the way and a new set of engines mounts cost me all of $US5.95@, love these old GM prices.
I added twin thematic fans and a new aluminium radiator. Took a little bit of fabrication because I ditched the old shroud as well which held the radiator mounts. With such a large engine bay the shroud was big and ugly and had to go. The fan control unit has worth fitting with staggered start and delay shut down. Only issue now is if the OEM 55A alternator is enough to continually recharge the battery for the fans regularly (being Brisbane) running 30 seconds after turn off.
