History
Car PE043 debuted at the 2004 Sandown 500 as the number 11 Castrol Perkins Racing Team VY Holden Commodore. Steven and father Jim Richards as co driver drove the car at Sandown and Bathurst that year and Steven qualified the car on pole position for the 2004 Bathurst 1000. During the race while Jim Richards was driving, the car was involved in the famous kangaroo crash which ended the teams hopes for a first father son win at Bathurst. For the 2005 V8 Supercar season, Steven Richards occupied the car again for the whole year and managed a round win at Barbagallo Raceway with race wins in Shanghai, Oran Park and Phillip Island including many other podiums. Steven finished the 2005 season in 5th in the championship for Castrol Perkins Racing. 2006 saw the sponsorship change to Jack Daniels and a change from the VY to the updated VZ chassis. Paul Dumbrell moved into the car which stayed as number 11 and saw Paul achieve his first race win. 2006 was Dumbrells most successful season where he took the Jack Daniel's #11 Commodore to a finish right on the verge of the top 10 in the Championship. In 2007 the car was kept by Perkins Engineering and was rebuilt for Larry's son Jack Perkins Fujitsu series campaign for 2008. Jack had a successful year in the number 500 Mack Trucks sponsored car with many podiums including winning the final ever race held a Oran Park in the wet to finish off the year. The car was bought by Taz Douglas and was raced in the Dunlop series up until 2011. The car was then purchased by Greg Barr in Perth and was put back to its successful 2005 Castrol Perkins livery. The car is currently being raced by Greg in the WA GT series at Barbagallo Raceway.
