The claws were out on Monday night’s Supercar Showdown, as contestants began to focus less on the competition and a little more on one another.

This week Queensland’s outspoken Ryal Harris bluntly questioned the females’ ability to keep up with the boys, while editor of MOTOR magazine, Andrew ‘Amac’ MacLean, candidly shared his opinions of his US counterpart, Edward Sevadjian.

“He's got attitude and all that sort of stuff you expect, well I just don't think he's got the speed. You wanna try and find someone who's fast and is actually not gonna wreck the car”, says Amac.

The young guns of the competition dominated the go-karting, with 19 year-old Jesse Dixon confidently taking out the prize. The challenge saw some of the competitions more mature, less-experienced rookies getting left behind.

“Here we are at a go-kart track, in a very important reward challenge, and I've sworn that I'm going to do better from now on and give it everything, and I've got nothing to give, I know nothing,” said go-karting novice and sports journalist Samantha Stevens.

This week’s Showdown casualty was 34 year-old Sarah Harley who, after confronting some painful crash memories failed to meet the brief and was sent home.

"I had a one in ten chance to get to the V8 Supercar Bathurst 1000 and that chance just passed,” said a devastated Harley.

Rick and Todd Kelly’s decision to eliminate Harley was final, but this didn’t stop the other contestants putting in their own two cents.

“I would say at that point Andre got a little bit lucky because he did poorly, but somebody else did even worse,” says rival contestant Edward Sevadjian.

Relationships are intensifying and the Supercar Showdown twists are coming thick and fast. Now airing Saturdays during 7mate’s Motorzone (check local guides for times) - eight contestants are left to vie for the prize and their ability to deal with the unknown is not the only thing that will be put to the test!
