Since 1981 Shannons Auctions has been Australia's leading auction house for veteran, vintage, classic, sporting and modified vehicles, as well as classic motorcycles, motoring memorabilia and numerical number plates.
Shannons cater for the enthusiast and collector market and conduct up to 10 auctions each year in Melbourne and Sydney. In addition to these regular auction events, Shannons conduct special one-off number plate auctions for the RTA and Vic Roads and the sale of private collections across Australia.
Shannons Auctions Work
Importantly, Shannons not only know all about the vehicles we sell and what they are worth, we know where the buyers are. Nationally, we insure more vintage, veteran, classic vehicles and road bikes than anyone else. Shannons know the market because we talk to thousands of enthusiasts every day about their vehicles and their motoring passion.
Shannons takes the hassle and frustration out of the selling process, and offers enthusiasts the convenience of purpose built showrooms in both Sydney and Melbourne.
Shannons Auctions are promoted widely and always well attended by genuine buyers, so it's not surprising more than 80 percent of lots sell on the day of the auction.
Selling with Shannons Auctions
Shannons has no 'hidden costs' or small print. We charge a fixed fee for vehicles with Reserve prices and a lesser fee for vehicles submitted with No Reserve. Upon sale a commission is charged (No Reserve vehicles incur a lesser commission). If your vehicle does not sell at auction, or in the days immediately following, you have the option to transfer it to our Park & Sell facility (which operates in our showroom) for up to one month at no extra cost.
Comprehensive Advertising & Promotion
With over 148,000 visitors per month, Shannons has one of Australia's most popular automotive websites. Our dynamic website provides a detailed view of all auction lots and allows Shannons to attract buyers and sellers from around the world. An increasing number of vehicles are also sold to collectors and enthusiasts Australia wide and overseas.
This website includes a selection of detailed pictures of each vehicle, vehicle history and description, as well as independent pre-purchase reports. This allows buyers to fully research lots prior to purchase.
Shannons advertise auction vehicles prominently in major daily newspapers and motoring magazines.
Regular media releases are also distributed for each auction, resulting in extensive coverage in newspapers, magazines and on websites around the world.
Shannons also distribute 20,000 colour catalogues for each auction to clients across Australia and around the world.
In addition, our auctions are promoted during the 1,200 plus motoring events around Australia that Shannons support and sponsor each year.
Auction media releases are displayed on the Shannons Club - Australia’s online community for motoring enthusiasts with over 108,000 members.
Park and Sell
Shannons Auctions also offer a Park and Sell service for vehicles and memorabilia in Sydney and memorabilia only in Melbourne.
You can display your vehicle/memorabilia in our Auction Showrooms for sale, which are open 6 days a week for viewing. Interstate owners can also arrange to display their vehicles at our Auction Showroom (Shannons can co-ordinate transport at vendor's cost).
Shannons place signage on your vehicle/memorabilia with your contact number and your asking price. Potential buyers can either call you direct - which is usually what happens - or speak to a member of our auction team, who will assist with information on the lot. The more information supplied, the better equipped our team will be to work on your behalf.
Prospective buyers have the opportunity to test-drive the vehicle with one of our team members (subject to the vendor's permission).
Vehicles are usually displayed in Park & Sell for 4-6 weeks.
Your vehicle is featured on the Shannons website and may also be advertised in relevant publications. We charge a fee of $330 (incl. GST) to display and market your vehicle, plus a parking fee upon its sale.
