The Jaguar XJ-C is regarded by many aficionados as even more beautiful than the four-door saloon from which it derived. The XJ-C was only offered alongside the Series 2 version of the XJ saloon – total numbers produced between 1975 and 1977 were low and the survival rate has not been high. The handsome coupe was offered with either the 4.2-litre six-cylinder or 5.3-litre V12 engine. Built on the same wheelbase as its four-door siblings, the coupes' pillarless side window treatment and thicker rear pillars made for supremely elegant styling. Despite this, for very many years these unique coupes commanded only a small premium. More recently, the world of automotive collectors has come to understand their beauty, rarity and significance within Jaguar’s chequered history.
