Known in Japan as the Silvia, the Nissan 200SX is a sporty coupe that was manufactured between 1975 and 2002. Originally badged Datsun until the company changed its name in the early 1980s, the S15 model of 1999 was the sixth iteration of the 200SX and was only officially sold in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. It wore a compact, sporty body with modern styling inside and out, and was powered by a turbocharged SR20DET in-line four cylinder engine which boasted 184 kW at 6400 rpm and 275 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. For the Australian market, the S15 sold in two trim levels, Spec-S and Spec-R, until the introduction of the Nissan 200SX GT in 2002, the last year of production for the S15. The GT spec brought wheels finished in a silver shadow chrome, chrome interior door handles, chrome gear selector surround, "sports" metal pedal set, and an updated larger rear wing. Production ended in August 2002 when Nissan moved to reduce its myriad of platforms, the S15-series Nissan Silvia/200SX therefore became the last to wear the Silvia badge.
