Description
Established in 1948, the Honda Motor Company quickly became one of the dominant motorcycle manufacturers from Japan. It built everything from commuter scooters right up to Grand Prix machines capable of challenging the world's best on the racetrack. Honda developed a myriad of new models to suit every need and by the late 1960s the range was incredibly diverse, including trail bikes, scramblers and minibikes. Released in 1981, the NCZ50 was a radical commuter vehicle designed to fit inside the boot of a small car – indeed, Honda’s City supermini had a boot area developed specifically to accommodate the Motocompo. The handlebars, saddle and foot pegs all fold into the plastic bodywork and, weighing around 45 kgs depending on how much fuel was in the tank, was designed to be picked up and carried short distances. Available in three colours, namely Daisy Yellow, Caribbean Red and Shetland White, the Motocompo was powered by Honda’s well-proven 50cc air-cooled two-stroke single and a single-speed transmission with automatic clutch operation. Launched in a series of hilarious television ads featuring the British band Madness (if you haven’t seen them take a look on Youtube!), the Motocompo only remained in production for three years and a total of 53,369 were made, very few of them reaching Australia. Today, the radical little Honda enjoys a cult following around the world and any self-respecting Honda City owner needs a Motocompo to create the ultimate ’80s Japanese commuter combo.History

Do you have a Honda City in the garage? We have the ultimate accessory in this iconic Motocompo, a fully functional piece of Japanese industrial design. An optional extra for the Honda City, this particular Motocompo was privately imported from Japan by the current Sydney owner back in 2012 and has been carefully preserved in original, operational condition ever since. The Honda draws an incredible amount of attention wherever it goes, is hilarious to ride and would be a great talking point for any collection. Supplied with an original service manual, brake pads, gaskets and two inner tubes, the Honda will be sold with No Reserve.
