Description
Honda, arguably the most versatile motorcycle manufacturer in the world, produced the charming little XR80 trail bike from 1979 to 2003, an impressively long time! It was powered by an air-cooled single cylinder single overhead camshaft engine. The transmission had five speeds and this 80cc wonder could reach a top speed one nudge below 50 miles per hour – 49! It weighed just 69.9kg and the fuel tank capacity was 6.9 litres. For the 1982 season the XR80 was available in only one colour, Tahitian Red, just like the three seasons before. (From 1983 to 1986 inclusive it came only in Flash Red, a more orangey hue. From 1987 to 1990 it was two-toned – Flash Red and Shasta White. Then until 1995 it was Shasta White and Rainbow Blue. The next two years brought Shasta White and Violet. The final two years of the Series I were Shasta White.)History
- Charming little lightweight trail bike- Great talking point for any collection
- Only a few finishing touches required
The XR80 is a charming little lightweight motorcycle, produced by its maker for a very long period. The current owner of this example purchased it as a restoration that was two-thirds complete and his intention was to finish the job to perfection. According to the owner the motor was rebuilt but might require a tune as it has been part of a static collection. The paint, plastics, controls, carburettor and bars are all new. It even comes with a pair of new shocks. So, for the next owner, very little work will be required to have what amounts to a brand new 1980 motorcycle!
Note: Shannons advise that all potential buyers research and inspect motorcycles before purchase to authenticate originality and condition as a pre-purchase inspection report is not carried out on these vehicles.
In accordance with the Queensland Motor Dealers Act all vehicles sold require a 5% buyers premium payable on sale. All vehicles in the auction do not have a statutory warranty and no cooling-off period applies.
*The Bid Extension rule applies to all lots
