The Ford Customline was king of Australian Roads in the 1950s. With its lusty overhead-valve Y-Block V8 engine, sprawling room for six, huge boot and top speed of 90 miles per hour, the ‘Cusso’ represented a big step up from the Holden. Locally assembled in Geelong, the Aussie Customlines were based on the RHD Canadian models. The 1955 model was the purest in styling with its simple grille and straight-through chrome strip from nose to tail.
