The Suzuki RGV-250 is a production race bike based on the Japanese manufacturer's 250 cc Grand Prix bikes from 1987 to 1998. This motorcycle replaced the RG250 Gamma, which employed an alloy frame with a two-stroke parallel twin engine. The RGV-250 produced over 50 bhp in a narrow power band between 8,000 and 11,000 rpm, and with a dry weight ranging between 128 kg (1989) to 140 kg (later models), performance was impressive. The top speed of a standard RGV-250 is around 210 km/h, with a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of around 3.7 seconds. With a relatively narrow powerband, the engine doesn’t come alive until 8,000 rpm, after which the power delivery characteristics effectively double, as is expected of a two-stroke racing motorcycle.
