Alongside the more famous Falcon Sprint, Ford introduced the Futura convertible for America's 1964 model year. Sitting above the base Falcon in the model range, most Futuras were sold with the standard 170-cid six-cylinder engine, with three-speed manual or auto transmission. Additionally, the Futura could also be ordered with the Falcon Sprint's 260-cid V8 and four-speed floor-shift manual gearbox. These days a Futura convertible with the V8 motor is a very desirable and rare muscle car, made for summer cruising to the tune of that sweet small-block.
