A little known chapter in the history of Holden's Commodore, the Nitron Pack was a limited edition VL sold exclusively through prominent Victorian country Holden dealerships. The Nitron Pack VLs were produced for CGM Marketing in conjunction with Holden Dealer Team. A mix of both turbo and normally aspirated six-cylinder VL Commodores were used in the exclusive run (official production figures don't exist but one source suggests 141 cars were made), all of them given the same HDT dress-up treatment - Bridgade Red exterior paint, grey cloth trim, a five-speed manual transmission, sports suspension, a colour-coded body kit consisting of side skirts, Group A-type grille and rear spoilers. 15-inch HDT Aero wheels and a Momo steering wheel were also fitted and every Nitron came with a Peter Brock's controversial Energy Polarizer. Although not officially regarded as an HDT model, the Nitron is nonetheless an interesting limited-edition version of Holden's ever-popular VL and affordable way into a car that will surely become a collector's item in its own right.
