2003 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe (RHD)

Description

Taking its name from a special edition Corvette C2 of the sixties, 2001 saw the introduction of the modern-day Z06. At the time seen as a spiritual successor to the exotic late eighties ZR-1, the Z06 introduced an upgraded LS6 version of the standard C5 'Vettes pushrod 5.7-litre LS1 V8 to produce 405bhp at a heady 6000rpm in the 2002 model year.
To cope with the added horsepower the stronger hardtop chassis was utilised and fitted with larger tyres and improved brakes and suspension, while a revised ratio six-speed manual gearbox helped contribute to the claimed 0-60mph time of 3.9 seconds. Despite the heavyweight hardware the Z06 was also lighter than the standard C5 by 17kg thanks to the lighter wheels, thinner glass and part-titanium exhaust. Additionally the Z06 stood out with specific badge work and interior detailing. Total production ran from 2001-2004, and some 28,388 were produced before C5 production ended. It was seen as a great performance bargain, out-pacing equivalent European exotics at a much lower price.
