Description

Built & designed by automotive division of Hawker Siddeley Aviation. These cars offer high quality British workmanship, sound engineering principles coupled with aeronautic standards. Sapphire range released October 1952. Updated October 1954 by the Mk2 model, with upgraded fan/cooling system, power brakes, rubberised stone guards, 4sp GM hydramatic automatic (as used by R.R), Conventional blinking indicators rather than troublesome semaphore style illuminated wands, and for 1956, power steering , the first time ever offered on any British car. These are elegantly proportioned cars, the interior which is entered by the rearwards opening front doors exudes a quality and charm from a bygone era. When driven they offer sedate luxury motoring, on massively engineered chassis with superbly made engines. Though visually similar in style to a 1950's Jaguar or Bentley the mechanics of an Armstrong Siddeley are generally less complex, which lends them to more regular general use.
