1948 saw the beginning of the F Truck, Little did ford realise they were on a winner from the beginning. Things evolved slowly over the years with mainly cosmetic changes, by 1953 the grill, guards and bonnet were all stylised into one, this year also saw the birth of the F100 and F150 badges.
In 1959 ford developed the 292 cubic inch V8 and 1961 again saw body styling changes,1965 they released the 240and 300 cubic inch six cylinder engines,1967 saw three interior trims available, base, custom and ranger, the ranger had carpet and more chrome. The 360 V8 replaced the 352 in 1968 and the F100 got coil springs(mono beam),1970 saw the Ranger XLT become available, the 302 with 220hp is also now available, over the next few years larger engines and automatic transmissions also appeared. Ford have continued to market its pickups in a number of configurations to this current day and have always been a popular work and leisure truck for many people worldwide.
