2007 Ford Falcon GT Cobra Sedan

In 2007, Ford drew inspiration from the hallowed names of the past and recreated a legend with the limited-edition FPV GT Cobra. Released at the Sydney Motor Show in both sedan and ute models, the new GT celebrated the Cobra name last seen in the Seventies on the famous white and blue XC hardtops that scored a memorable victory at Bathurst in 1977. Indeed, the latest Cobra was revealed during a parade lap of Mount Panorama before the 2007 Bathurst 1000, exactly 30 years since Colin Bond and Allan Moffat's triumphant 1-2 finish. As with the first Cobra, just 400 individually numbered editions of the new FPV GT Cobra sedan were made available and all were snapped up by enthusiasts, many of whom already owned a classic XC Cobra. Mechanically, Ford kitted out the new Cobra with a 302kW 5.4-litre V8 with an upgraded engine management system, increased compression ratio, reprofiled camshafts, valves and a new exhaust. A choice of manual or auto gearboxes, both with six speeds and limited-slip diff as standard, were offered along with upgraded R-spec suspension and unique 19-inch alloy wheels. In the best Cobra tradition, all cars were finished in white with twin blue racing stripes along with Cobra snake badges on the boot, sides and seats.
