The MGB was the final - and most successful - proper sports car to wear the famous Octagon badge to many enthusiasts and was able to offer the car buying public of the early Sixties genuinely sporting performance at a price most could afford. With plenty of zip from the B-Series engine developing 95bhp from it's 1.8-litres, and nicely predictable handling thanks to the monocoque construction and well sorted suspension. Lockheed disc brakes up front helped keep the MGB's speed in check and the cars were well put together by a BMC eager to ensure there weren't any quality control issues in crucial export markets like America. That the MGB succeeded cannot be disputed, with over half a million sold over an eighteen year period and a loyal following around the world that show no signs of dissipating today. Early 'Bs, like the example on offer here, are perhaps the most sought after for their period details and purity of style.
