Description

Ford's full-size Galaxie proved popular in Australia, selling alongside the smaller Falcons at local dealers to those wanting the something offering more room, performance and luxury. From 1965 until 1968, Ford even assembled Galaxies locally at the Homebush factory but from 1969 until 1972 the big American was fully imported and converted to right-hand drive in the Broadmeadows plant in Victoria. With revised sheet metal for 1969 boasting retractable headlamps, the Galaxie was available with a wide range of body styles but the most select and desirable - both when new and today - was the convertible. The range of engine options included the 240-cid six-cylinder, 302-cid V8 or, in the case of the car on offer here, 390-cid V8. The 1969 Galaxie was fully loaded with every convenience and the convertible an eye-catching cruiser.
