Perhaps the best loved British sports car of all, the evergreen MGB has all the ingredients necessary to make it the perfect classic car today - offering great value for money, is both easy to work on and cheap to run, looks great, and most of all, is fun to drive. When it was launched, much was made of the MGB's monocoque construction - a first for the marque - resulting in a much stiffer, lighter shell. Other notable improvements included the use of Lockheed disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and well set-up suspension with coil springs and wishbone-type links controlled by hydraulic dampers with an anti-roll bar at the front and semi-elliptic rear springs. Powering the MGB was the willing B-Series four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual gearbox (with overdrive an option) and as time went on, an all-synchromesh 'box was adopted for the Mark II of 1967 - along with a stronger five-bearing engine. One of the last pre-rubber bumper MGBs, the example on offer retains the classic shape and style of the original with all the many improvements built into the car through the ten years since its launch.
