The final flowering of MG's T-Series was unveiled at the 1953 Motor Show and featured modernised lines with a slightly raked radiator grille and headlamps integrated into the front wings but retained traditional MG cues such as the folding windscreen and cutaway doors.

The interior came in for some revision too, with new bucket seats and a redesigned dashboard while the unpopular pressed steel wheels of the TD were ditched in favour of the wire wheels customers expected on a traditional British sports car. In most other respects, the running gear of the previous TD was carried over and production ran on till 1955, by which time 9,800 had been manufactured and of these, around two-thirds were exported to America with the remainder going to the home market, Europe, Australia or South Africa.

Although it met with a less than rapturous reception when new, the TF has ironically become the most sought after of all the square-rigger MGs and good examples like the car on offer here will inevitably prove a sound investment.
