More than 40 years after its introduction, the Ford Mustang remains a motoring icon and a highly desirable and collectable classic.
Sharing many mechanical components with mainstream Ford models of its era, including its range of six cylinder and V8 engines, transmissions and many suspension and chassis components, Mustangs are a practical classic to own and use daily, with a ready supply of new, used and reproduction parts available to feed the ongoing frenzy by collectors and cruisers alike.
The '30 year' rule that allows left hand drive cars more than 30 years old to be registered in most Australian States has helped popularise the Mustang in Australia, with left hand drive no longer being the barrier to usability it used to be.
Convertible models remain very popular for their style and 'cruisability', with values remaining steady over many years, meaning that the real cost of ownership is very low by new car standards.
