Description

The 280SL was the last of the three Mercedes-Benz W113 series roadsters built in the 1960s and also the most popular, with 23,885 examples produced between 1967 and 1971.

With its Bosch fuel injected single overhead camshaft straight six cylinder 2.8 litre engine, the 280SL was a brisk performer in its day, accelerating from 0-100km/h in less than 10 seconds and with a top speed in excess of 200km/h. This was aided by its relatively light weight, as the doors, bonnet and boot lid were all made from aluminium alloy. Like its 230SL and 250SL W113 predecessors, the 280SL's key design feature that made it distinctive and collectable was its concave-shaped 'Pagoda Roof' hardtop.
