Volvo's six-cylinder line, the 262 and 264, were powered by the PRV light-alloy V6 of 2.7-litres capacity, developing 148bhp in Bosch fuel injected form and was available as a four-door sedan, estate or limited production coupe by Italian design studio Bertone. The 262C, as the Bertone coupe was designated, was essentially standard below the waistline but featured a chopped roofline, front spoiler and distinctive alloy wheels. The long list of standard equipment made for impressive reading ? air conditioning, power steering and windows, AM/FM stereo with four speakers, electrically heated seats, tinted windows, headlight washer/wipers and of course lights that automatically came on day or night. A luxurious personal coupe of distinctive appearance, the 262C sold in small numbers and is a rare sight today.
