Regarded as the car that firmly established Toyota's reputation around the world, the RT40 Corona was in production from 1964 to 1969 and featured the 2R 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 70bhp at 5000rpm with an all-synchromesh gearbox (with either three or four-speeds). The car had coil spring suspension up front and auto-adjusting Bendix dual servo brakes at both ends while attractive styling and the wide range of body styles' from sedan and wagon to coupe and utility variants were built 'made it a popular choice.

The car won numerous accolades and sold in substantial numbers. Later Deluxe and 1600S models came with larger engines and more sporting equipment. The Corona was facelifted for 1968 with a new grille, rear lights and bumpers. The years have gradually taken their toll and few Coronas of this generation have survived to the present day, ensuring those that do remain will become increasingly collectible.
