The Morgan Motor Company is among the oldest independent automobile companies in existence with their turn of the century factory in Malvern Link, Worcestershire, England, producing classic sports cars today just as it has for nearly 100 years.
The Morgan Plus 4 Roadster came with an inline four-cylinder engine rated at 57 horsepower, twin SU carburetors, four-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, solid rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs and four-wheel Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes; It is a traditionally constructed and engineered sports car that pays the purchaser back in spades in terms of performance, enjoyment and ease of maintenance. The Morgan is carefully designed, built, and tested so as to provide a sports roadster that has good performance, is comfortable, easy to handle, simple to maintain, economical to operate, and sporty in appearance.
This vehicle was imported from the UK by an Australian Air Force officer, and subsequently purchased by a member of the Morgan Club in NSW who owned it for 25 years. The current owner has had the car for 6 years.
The engine has been upgraded to Triumph TR4A specifications, increasing the capacity of the pushrod 4 cylinder engine to 2138cc, giving a significant increase in performance. The body has recently been resprayed and the brakes overhauled. Four boxes of spares accompany the vehicle which include twin Webers on a manifold and new front suspension pillars to take disc brakes. It also comes with a new hood and side curtains and tonneau cover and a Factory Certificate. Recently new front tyres have also been fitted.
This is a classic sports car in the English tradition in very good condition, and with its upgraded engine will provide exhilarating open air motoring.
