Valencia: MotoGP Pre-Race Report

By FORMULAMotoGPMag - 06 November 2015

The season final has arrived for the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 classes and the controversy is still the talk of the town! It will be a rollercoaster of a weekend for many riders including Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi, Jack Miller and Nicky Hayden. We have a World Championship to be decided in both MotoGP and Moto3 whilst Nicky Hayden retires from MotoGP and Jack Miller spends his last minutes with his LCR Honda Team before moving over to Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS.

The biggest news of the weekend so far is that Rossi’s request to stay the execution of the decision by the FIM Stewards on 25 October 2015 was dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).  “The CAS Arbitrator found that the conditions to grant the stay were not met, which means that the sanction imposed by FIM will have to be served at the next Grand Prix in Valencia.” This means that Valentino Rossi will start the 2015 Valencia Grand Prix from last place on the grid.

In other news, Australian rider Broc Parkes will race at Valencia for injured Alex De Angelis. The good news is that Alex is present at Valencia and looking well considering the length of his injuries sometime ago. It is excellent to see him back on his feet and smiling! Valentino Rossi stated in the press release “It will be a very intense weekend and also a very important one. I want to think just about what will happen at the track. My goal is to work at my best capabilities with my team and make the most of every session to get to the race on Sunday with everything I need to express myself in the best way possible.”  The Doctor has his work cut out for him and is feeling a little regretful for what he did in Malaysia. The fans will be cheering loudly and we are in for a treat with an ending to a World Championship that has been remarkable and not shy of those ups and downs.

Whilst, Lorenzo commented “We have arrived in Valencia after a very busy and exciting season.” Lorenzo hopes that the fans will support them at home and have a good race. He went on further to point out that “This year I won the previous three races that were held in Spain and to do well in Valencia would be amazing. I’ve always noticed the warmth of the fans and I’m sure in Valencia we will enjoy a great show. I will give everything on the track to get this championship title.” Lorenzo feels strong and ready to battle with everything up for grabs on Sunday.

Marc Marquez on the other hand has been working hard to get ready for this weekend though stated that it was not easy. “I’ve only got one goal in mind: my sixth win of the year. It would be the fourth win in a row for the team, after our great performances in Japan, Australia and Malaysia”. Marc has been subject like Lorenzo and Rossi to some unfair criticism. Every rider is human and we must always remember that the pressure and intensity of this title battle is at a pinnacle. He sums it up perfectly “I hope the events of the past week can be put behind us and we can focus on the race.” No matter what happens on the weekend, the racing quality will be high and the emotions very much on display for everyone to see.

The same can be said for the Moto3 class with Danny Kent and Miguel Oliveira going head to head. Danny is very much aware of Miguel’s race pace, Miguel is aware of Danny’s solid performance and both are ready for the challenges the grid will throw at them. Danny paints the picture for the fans incredibly well with his comment about Valencia - “It will be a tough job ahead of us because for me Moto3 is the hardest class to plan how to approach a race in terms of tactics.” One minute you are first, the next tenth and then further backwards or forwards. It changes from lap to lap. This is motorcycle racing at its best. Ladies and gentlemen, be sure to tune in for this final event, as it is sure to be one to remember aside from the drama in Malaysia!
