This multiple trophy-winning Phase III GT-HO Falcon is expected to sell in the $470,000-$520,000 range

The stunning, electric blue beauty that has been the hands of its current custodian for the past 25 years is understood to have had just five enthusiast owners since it was delivered new by Murray Ford of Ipswich, Queensland to the first owner in June, 1971.

Importantly for collectors, the Ford had never been allowed to fall into disrepair over its 45-year lifespan and retains all its trademark HO parts, including the close ratio 31-spline 3.5:1 differential it left the factory with.

Its vendor – a noted collector with a passion for Falcon GTs – had the matching numbers car fully restored back to original factory specification in 1998.

The quality of the workmanship was such that the car took out the GT Nationals in Adelaide the following year, then again in Brisbane in 2003 and was a runner-up at Brisbane in 2011.

As a further tribute to its quality and provenance, Ford Performance Vehicles chose this GT-HO as its poster car for the launch of the BA FPV GT 290kw at Bathurst in 2004.

Shannons say the GT-HO is perfect for the most fastidious Aussie car collector and expect it to find willing bidders in the $470,000 - $520,000 range.

Muscle car enthusiasts have also have a number of other important vehicles to choose from in Monday’s Melbourne Autumn Auction.

A much more affordable alternative to the Phase III GT-HO at Shannons Melbourne Autumn Auction on Monday, May 2 is this 1970 Ford XW Fairmont V8 Sedan that is expected to sell for $30,000-$38,000.

Ford fanciers on a tighter budget are also catered for with a nicely-presented 1970 Ford XW Fairmont V8 Sedan ($30,000-$38,000), a 1970 Ford XY Falcon V8 Station wagon ($25,000-$30,000) and two Mustangs – a very tidy right hand drive 1967 Mustang Coupe ($24,000-$28,000) and a 1966 left hand drive ‘K-Code’ Coupe ($34,000-$40,000).

This 1966 left hand drive ‘K-Code’ Coupe has a guiding range of $34,000-$40,000

Those looking for an American Ford with a difference will find the ‘no reserve’ left hand drive 1966 Fairlane 500 V8 Convertible very appealing at its estimated $24,000-$28,000 selling range.
