Emerson Harvey takes out the Tasmanian State Title.

Tasmanian State Title. The last opportunity to win a coveted “Blue” plate for the year and good entries from all over the country was sure to make it a hard one to win.

Practice Having never been to the Launceston track and only 3 sessions to learn the layout, the hometown advantage was sure to come into play. Emerson was very happy not to have dropped out of the top 4 after the 3 sessions.

Qualifying 8 minutes to get it right, Emerson was on fire in the Shannons backed machine, setting a pole position time & new lap record of 39.415, which set him up for a great weekend.

Heats 1, 2 & 3 Emerson finished all three heats behind the newly crowned Australian No 1, lot’s of really intense racing between these two young chargers, clearly these boys were the stand out gapping the field by some margin.

Final We were all set for a monumental battle in the 21 lap final from 2 of Australia’s best young karters & the big Tassie crowd were not disappointed.

Young Jay Hanson got the jump from pole to lead into turn 1 closely followed by Harvey, big contact from third and beyond saw the 2 leaders skip away. On Lap 4 Emerson made a very decisive move to take the lead, a few laps later there was contact but Harvey stayed in front. The Shannons backed driver then continued to extend the lead setting the fastest lap of the race and winning his first state title.
