The Shannons Story

Shannons was the brainchild of the late Robert Shannon who created an insurance business in the early seventies run by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts.

Shannons insurance products are specially tailored to the individual needs of motoring enthusiasts and relies on direct contact with clients rather than through other agents or brokers.

Today, as part of the Suncorp Group, Shannons has offices in all state capitals, the ACT and Northern Territory. Across Australia Shannons is the first choice of motoring enthusiasts when it comes to insuring their special cars, motorcycles and homes, as well as the day to day cars of owners.

Since 1981 Shannons Auctions have conducted Australia's biggest collectable vehicle auctions including the prestigious Australian International Motor Show Auction in Sydney and The Melbourne International Motor Show.

Meet some of our passionate team

My background before joining the Shannons club was in Sales, Advertising & Promotions. The opportunity to do the same kind of work and combine it with cars is just perfect for me! I purchased the 1966 Mustang in 1996, joined the Historic Racing Car Club & raced it in many Historic sprints in Qld & NSW.... Like my job, I don’t think I could part with it!

When it comes to ‘classic cars’ my interest has been wide and varied, having owned a 1938 Chevrolet Sloper Coupe and a 1953 Hudson Super Wasp in the past. Undoubtly my pride and joy is a 1953 48-215 series Holden Sedan which is my first car and I have owned for 30 years. It’s travelled an original 60,00 miles and is in total original condition.

TONY O’DONNELL New South Wales

I've always loved cars. Most of my current fleet would best be described as works in progress and covers things like an Elfin 600, ‘40 Ford with 351 Clevo and a small number of Europeans. I can’t say my taste in cars follows any particular theme. Being part of the team at Shannons means I see so many great cars and meet so many interesting people that I’d never have a shed big enough to own all the things I want.

My interest in motoring started about 30 years ago when my dad took me out to Collingrove in the Barossa Valley to watch the hill climbing. I was bitten by the bug and have been an avid motor sport fan ever since. My main passion is rallying, which lead me to buy a classic rally car - the might Datsun 1600. My car is currently undergoing restoration with the aim of turning it into a nice street cruiser.
